The history of Sailer

Sailer (Oberkirfen, Oberestrich) in Austria is a long-established bakery that has been a bakery since 1913. Taking over the family business is quite common in Austria, and Sailer’s owner, Adolf Sailer, has been working as a baker since the age of 15. Also, the name Adolf Sailer has been passed down from generation to generation, and is now the fourth generation.

Opened “Sailer” in Burgenland by the first Adolf Sailer.
1913
Opened “Beckerei Sailer” in Radstadt by the second generation Adolf Sailer.
1930
Opened “Beckerei Sailer” in Villibalt by the 3rd generation Adolf Sailer.
1939-1945
Second World War
1945
3rd generation Adolf Sailer died during Russian troop dispatch.
1960
Sold the Villibalt store and opened a new “Beckerei Sailer” in Mawarekirfen.
1994
Opened “Beckerei & Konditorei Sailer” in Fukuoka, Japan by the 4th generation Adolf Sailer.
2000 ~ present
The Austrian shop will be taken over by his younger brother Rudolf Sailer.

Education: Complete elementary school and 5 years of compulsory education

Vocational training: Trained as a confectioner (2 years) and a baker (2 years) at Carl Vinehaupt in Altoheim
1982
Vocational school: Graduate graduation exams with good grades at Braunau and Linz
1982-1983
Served in the Army for a year in Salzburg
1983-1989
Worked at the shop run by the parents
1984-1986
Worked under Mitsuhiro Harada of “Chidoriya” during his stay in Fukuoka
1986-1987
Returned to Austria and obtained a qualification as a bread and confectionery meister.
1989
Return to Fukuoka “Chidoriya” again
1989-1993
Served as store manager at Biselose in Akasaka, Fukuoka
1994
Opened Beckerei & Konditorei Sailer in Fukuoka
1996 ~ present
Serves as a teacher at Osaka Tsuji School
1997
April Lecturer at Fukuoka Nakamura Cooking School
1998
At the Nagano Olympics, he was invited to the Austrian Olympic team to bake bread for the athletes.
1999
Invited by the emperor to the Austrian 120th Anniversary Festival
2001
Established Austrian Confectionery Sailer Japan Co., Ltd.
2002
At the Japan-Korea World Cup, he was invited to the Cameroon national team to bake bread for the players
2003-2008
Became an official sponsor of J League Avispa Fukuoka
2004 ~ now
Started Avispa product online shop

Sailer sister store / LA SUPIGA (Italian bread specialty store) OPEN
2009
OPEN sports bar & restaurant / BAYERN Fukuoka, which has acquired the official license of FC Bayern Muenchen
2010
Purchased the building where Sailer is located as the Sailer headquarters building

Planning and cooperating as an advisor to Japan’s first Austrian-German style vocational school “Spirit of Meister School”

Technical tie-up with Hotel Okura JR Huis Ten Bosch to provide guidance
